Since 2009, Verallia has organised a design contest aimed at design students and young graduates. Students taking part must submit projects for bottles and jars in response to themes linked to packaging such as “Vintage… at the peak of modernity”, “Glass for Sharing” and “Innovation and durability”. A panel of judges composed of professionals selects the best innovations created by the students.
The contest has grown progressively bigger; nowadays it is held in France, Spain, Portugal, Brazil and Argentina.
While forging links with design schools, Verallia is promoting innovation in packaging and communicating the virtues of glass as a material.
Verallia also supports the glass-making industry and its programmes through its memberships of FEVE – the European Container Glass Federation (www.feve.org), the Glass Packaging Institute (www.gpi.org) and the Friends of Glass community (www.friendsofglass.com). Verallia is participating actively in the “Look Beyond the Label” campaign by Friends of Glass, which encourages consumers not to rely on product labels alone, but quite simply to choose glass.
