Verallia announces the construction of a greenfield in Brazil

Verallia, a global leader in glass packaging for the food and beverage industry, has decided to speed-up its development in Brazil through the construction of a greenfield plant in the Northeastern part (Nordeste), where it was not present so far.        

The project will take place in Estancia in the state of Sergipe, with a strong support of the State Authorities.

Verallia has just signed a tentative agreement with the Viera family to establish a capitalistic partnership with Ipiaram Empreendimentos e Participações, a Brazilian company based in Sergipe. The parties should finalize their agreement by the end of the year.

The greenfield will require an investment totaling more than 200 million Brazilian Reals (approximately 70 million Euros) and should begin its activity in 2015. 

For Verallia, this plant is the fourth production facility in Brazil and the first in the Northeastern part of the country, of which growth potential is one of the highest in the country.

The site will employ around 485 people during the construction phase and 195 (including sub-contractors) when fully operational with a first furnace. It will produce glass bottles and jars for food and beverages and will primarily serve the Northeastern market.
