Verallia Design Awards’ Italian Finale

The finale of the 2018 Italian edition of Verallia Design Awards took place at Fico Eataly World (Fabbrica Italiana Contadina), the largest food park in the world, dedicated to promoting Italian gastronomy. Over 180 customers gathered for the event.

Design students from Politecnico di Milano-Scuola di Design had to propose bottle projects for two Verallia customers, the beverage producer Lurisia and the winery Santero

The prizewinning projects are:

  • MATE, by Aurora Baratto and Alessia Kayalibay. Designed for Lurisia’s non-alcoholic beverages, the special feature of this curvaceous bottle is that it is partly satin-finished and bears a screen-printed label
  • ACE BLACK, by Lucia Gualdi and Francesca Inzani. For Santero’s sparkling wines, students imagined a slender bottle, decorated with etched and screen-printed diamonds, recalling the brand’s logo and playing cards.

Since 2009, different subsidiaries of the Verallia group have run an annual design competition. This year, the Verallia Design Awards have been organized in 6 countries: Ukraine, Germany, Spain, France, Italy and Portugal. Art or design students and young graduates imagine, from a given theme, innovative glass packaging. The competition entrants are supported by Verallia’s teams to learn more about glass as a material and its industrial demands.
